Sasakawa Postgraduate Research Fellowship

Massey University received a generous endowment from the Nippon Foundation (previously the Sasakawa Foundation of Tokyo) to fund the Sasakawa Fellowship Fund for Japanese Language Education.  The Fund supports scholarships for postgraduate students whose research will benefit Japanese language learning in New Zealand.  

 

Eligibility: 

Applicants must be New Zealand citizens or hold New Zealand permanent resident status. At the time of application, candidates must be enrolled at the tertiary institution where they will be taking up their scholarship.  Strong preference will be given to candidates who are enrolled at a New Zealand tertiary institution.  

 

Value and number awarded: 

One scholarship of up to $30,000 (maximum of $10,000 per year) may be awarded annually for PhD study.

Two scholarships of $5,000 may be awarded each year for masters study.

Two scholarships of $1,000 for research as part of an honours project.

 

Closing Date: 

31 March.

(Late applications may be accepted subject to availability of funds).
