Brian Gaynor Initiative – Scholarship in Journalism

The Brian Gaynor Initiative, via the Milford Foundation,
has established a contestable scholarship, named the
Brian Gaynor Scholarship in Journalism, to encourage
and support final year undergraduate students
interested in pursuing journalism, with a focus on
business journalism, as a career.

In June 2023, Anna Gibbons established the
Brian Gaynor Business Journalism Initiative (the Initiative).
The Initiative was designed to recognise the contribution
that Brian Gaynor, (co-founder of Milford Asset
Management Limited), made to business journalism in
New Zealand, and to help strengthen and promote the
quality and appeal of New Zealand business and economic
writing and journalism.

Eligibility

The scholarship is open to applications from tertiary students who are in the final year of study towards an undergraduate degree relevant to a career in journalism. Applicants must show an intent to build a career in business journalism.

 

Value and number awarded.

The number of scholarships available in any given year will be determined by the Selection Committee, valued up to $5,000.
